The Hawaii Police Activities League (HI-PAL) would like to congratulate all the participants in the first Hawaii Keiki Rodeo Association event of the season.

More than 194 kids, ranging from 1 to 18 years old, took part in the fun event.

It was held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Pana‘ewa Equestrian Center in Hilo.

During the event, keiki learned and practiced their skills in various rodeo events. Hawaii Police Department Community Policing Officers created free keiki ID cards on site, which provided an opportunity for the keiki and adults to interact, fostering connections and conversations.

HPD would like to extend special thanks to all the volunteers who made this event possible.

The next Hawaii Keiki Rodeo Association event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16.

It is free for the public to attend. Spectators are welcome to watch and enjoy the event as the children practice and sharpen their rodeo skills.

This collaboration between HI-PAL and the Hawaii Keiki Rodeo Association has strengthened year after year.

The HI-PAL program, a part of the HPD, focuses on fostering positive relationships between police officers and youth, serving as mentors and promoting teamwork, citizenship, and helping young people make good choices.

If your community group is interested in hosting a HI-PAL event in your area, please contact the HPD’s community police officers at (808) 961-8849.
